Mandeha any an-dafy

There is an American dream as there is a Malagasy dream : MANDEHA ANY AN-DAFY (going abroad)

Then do the exercise:

The singers are famous characters in a malagasy film, they are putting words to a malagasy dream that every malagasy knows:

Listen to the song, without reading the transcript and answer the questions:

0-what is the theme of the song?
1-what is the first reproach of the mother?
2-What is the matter with the photo that her son has sent to her?
3-What is the position of the father? Is he for or against his son abroad?
4-Does the father like or not alcoholic drinks? Can you name some of the drinks he mentioned?
5-What is the other reproach of the mother about the girl next door?
6-What is the reaction of the son about "ego"= misplaced pride?
7-Does the father agree or not about the marriage?
8-What is the last request of the father?
9-How do the parents and the son speak to each other, what technology do they use?

---***---

0- The theme is about the disagreement between life and values abroad and in the native country.
1-The mother complains about many things concerning her son, and asks for explanation on the phone: why has he changed? why doesn't he send money because they are poor in the country? (ny eto an-tanana dia mihafy= they are financially tight), so on
2-that he has a bottle of alcoholic drink and cigarettes on the photo (he answers that snow is too cold so he drinks a little to get hot)
3- The father doesn't bother, he tells his son to take life as it comes, he is even encouraging him to bring back some alcoholic drinks.
4-The father likes alcoholic drinks, he gives names like cognac, champaigne, vodka, wine
5- The mother recalls her son about his past promises to the girl next door, she fears that her son will end up marrying a foreign girl (hitantana vazaha no iafarany= you will marry a foreign girl)
6-He tells his parents that life is hard, and as a course of circumstances he is about to receive wedding presents, so he is saying that he is about to get married and concerning the girl next door he tells her to find another man (bandy hafa)
7-The father says that if that is the situation, let it be so,
8-to come and visit the son and to be sent an air ticket.
