FIHAVANANA by the journalist Benedicte RIGOU . Article inedit.

  1. FIHAVANANA

Retrouver l’âme du Fihavanana.

Introduction :

Find the soul of Fihavanana.

Introduction:
Inscribed in the preamble of the third Malagasy Constitution of April 2007, in equal part with the beliefs in God the Creator, the Malagasy Fihavanana is in essence, the expression of the social bond at work which aims to unite the great Malagasy community. In other words this actually means that the Fihavanana is a set of rules, norms and customs, transmitted in families, rules that govern the smooth running of local society, enact behaviors between individuals and modes of sociability. By extension, we can say that it is also the symbolic link that unites the entire Malagasy community, including when this community recomposes itself abroad.

Knowing this tradition in order to make it shine:

This life incorporated rule from an early age through family education has always been the cement of the whole society especially in rural areas. No one should ignore it. Indeed, this link instinctively generates the cohesion of everybody in the moments of joy or pain without distinction of village or social classes within the same family but also the immediate neighborhood and social circle more widely.
It is therefore important to know this tradition well so as to better respect it. To continue to transmit it is everyone's duty.

A rural tradition:

As long as the Malagasy people lived in villages in a fairly homogeneous way, the Fihavanana has long been applied. In any circumstance of life, be it happy or unhappy, every Malagasy person indeed has to lend help and assistance to his relatives. For example, for wages of a plate of rice or cassava, each household helps the others, in return, to carry out the work in their fields. Everyone is present at occasions such as birth, wedding or death. To skip this obligation means to keep away from others. This represents a real offense to the spirit of social cohesion.

When a baby is born, it is customary to visit the young mother without delay. Some people bring articles of childcare essential to the newborn, others offer the famous ro-patsa (crayfish broth) famous for its virtues which favor the increase of the breastmilk. Nobody fails to give sugar, seasonal fruits, kitoza (smoked meat) or money to buy some food and therefore, to increase the mother's appetite and allow her to breastfeed her baby well.

In the same way, if someone dies, everyone rushes to the home of the deceased to offer condolences and inquire about the funeral arrangements. In this way, everyone knows if he can help or be useful. Men are often responsible for providing firewood and cooking food to offer to the deceased's family and visitors. Women and children take care of the provision of water, they donate an equal quantity of rice and coffee. In addition for the collective money contribution, the famangiana, each family offers money to the grieved family in order to comfort them in their devastating mourning.

There is a proverb that expresses well the concept of Fihavanana: "velona iray trano, maty iray fasana" (living in the same home in life, in death sharing the same tomb)

Is this Fihavanana still working?

This form of social intelligence has also helped to ensure mutual assistance in the collective ricefields work, for the maintenance of the land of the sick or absent people. "We were together to repair or build the tombs. We helped through the old, the invalids, and the sick. In this form of social contract, everybody stands with the others". - Rabemananjara (2001) - quoted by Frédéric Sandron. 2008. Fihavanana in Madagascar: social and economic link of rural communities. Ed. Third World Review.

We all see today that the soul of fihavanana is diluted by constant changing aspects. Some say it is more or less jostled by new social norms, others may think that Westernization, the development of urban areas and poverty gaps have undermined what made our wealth. Would we still be able as our ancestors to say "Aleo very tsikalakalam-bola toy izay very tsikalakalam-pihavanana": "It is better to lose the financial interests than to lose cohesion and solidarity".

Some traditions are of course to be adapted to the social context in which we live, but already, should not we reflect together on how to reclaim this beautiful tradition to weld our community beyond its uprooting and its developments? google traduction ================== Miverena amy fanahin'ny Fihavanana.

Fampidirana:
Ao amin'ny sasin'ny lalàm-panorenan'i Madagascar natao ny 3 Aprily 2007, mitovy lenta amin'ny finoana an'Andriamanitra Mpamorona, ny Fihavanana dia ny fanehoana imaso ny fifamatorana ara-piarahamonina; fifamatorana izay mikendry ny fampiraisana ny Malagasy rehetra. Midika izany fa isan'andro ny Fihavanana dia mametraka ny fitsipika, fenitra sy fomba amam-panao, izay nampitan'ny fianakaviana. Ireo no fitsipika mifehy ny fizotry ny fiaraha-monina eo an-toerana, mamoaka fitsipika eo amin'ny olona samy olona ary koa ny fomba fifandraisana samy olona. Raha itarina dia azontsika atao ny milaza fa io ihany no rohy mamatotra sy mampiray ny vondrom-piarahamonina Malagasy rehetra, anisan'izany ny fijoroan' io vondrona io any ivelan'ny nosy.
Fampahafantarana io fomba amam-panao io mba hampamiratra azy:
Ity fitsipi-piainana manomboka hatramin'ny fahazazàny ity dia nampianarina tao amy fianakaviana ka mamitrana ny fiarahamonina iray manontolo, indrindra fa ny any ambanivohitra. Tsisy olona tokony tsy hiraharaha izany. Eny tokoa, io rohy io no miteraka firaisankina amin'ny fotoana rehetra na amy fifaliana na amy fahoriana ary tsy anavahana kilasy sosialy na tany nihavian'ny samy mpianakavy, na mpifanolo-bodirindrina na mpiara-monina manodidina.
Zava-dehibe ny fahafantarana tsara an'io fomban-drazana io mba hanajana azy tsaratsara kokoa. A
ndraikitry ny tsirairay ny fanohizana ny fampitana izany.

Fomban-tany ambanivohitra:

Tamy mbola velona tany ambanivohitra ny ankamaroan'ny Malagasy, dia tsy fongotra ny fihavanana. Na inona na inona toe-javatra misy eo amin'ny fiainana, na fifaliana na fahoriana, ny malagasy rehetra dia tsy maintsy manome fanampiana ho an'ny havany. Ohatra, ho setrin'ny karama vary sy laoka, ny tokantrano nandray dia miasa ho an'ny mpanome mba hanatanteraka ny asan'ny sahany. Ny tsirairay dia tonga mamangy amin'ny fahaterahana, fampakaram-bady na fahafatesana. Raha miala an'io adidy io, dia midika hoe manome lamosina ny hafa. Izany hoe maneho ny fandikana tanteraka ny toe-tsain'ny firaisana ara-tsosialy.

Rehefa misy tera-bao dia mazana mamangy avy hatrany ilay renim-pianakaviana ny olona. Ny sasany mitondra fitaovana momba ny fikarakarana zaza mena vava, ny hafa manolotra ro-patsa (lasopy misy patsa) malaza fa mampiakatra ny ronono-ndreny. Ny olon-drehetra dia tsy maintsy manome siramamy kely, voankazo, kitoza (hena natono), na vola hividianana sakafo hampazoto homana ny reny sy hanampy azy hampinono tsara ny zaza.

Tahaka izany ihany koa, rehefa misy fahoriana, dia mamangy any an-tranon'ilay maty ny tsirairay mba hanome ny fiaraha-miory ary hanontany momba ny fandaharam-potoana amy fandevenana. Amin'izany fomba izany dia mahafantatra ny rehetra raha afaka manampy sy manome tanana ny manana fahoriana. Matetika ny lehilahy no tompon'andraikitra amin'ny famakiana kitay sy fandrahoana sakafo ho an'ny fianakaviana sy ny mpamangy. Ny vehivavy sy ny ankizy dia matsaka rano, manome vary sy kafe mitovy lanja. Ankoatra ny famangiana iombonana izay ahafahan'ny olona mandray anjara amin'ny vola, ny fianakaviana tsirairay dia manolotra vola taratasy kely vitsivitsy ho an'ny manana alahelo mba hanala ny fahafenon-drano be loatra.

Hoy ny ohabolana izay milaza ny Fihavanana: "velona iray trano, maty iray fasana" (velona isika miara-miaina ao amin 'ny ankohonana iray, maty isika, alevina anaty fasana iray)

Moa ve mbola velona ity soa iombonana ity?

Ny Fihavanana koa dia nanampy tamin'ny fiantohan'antoka amin'ny asa iombonana amy tanimbary, fiasana ny tanin'ny marary na olona tsy eo an-toerana. "Niara-nanamboatra fasana izahay. Nomena tanana ny antitra, ny sembana, ary ny marary. Tamin'ny alalan'ity endrika fifanampiana ara-tsosialy ity, dia nifampiahy izahay". - Rabemananjara (2001) - notononin'i Frédéric Sandron. 2008. Fihavanana eto Madagasikara: rindram-baiko sosialy sy toe-karena amin'ny vondrom-bahoaka ambanivohitra. Ed.

Hitantsika rehetra ankehitriny fa very ny tena ain'ny Fihavanana. Misy milaza fa mihabetsaka ireo fenitra ara-tsosialy vaovao, ny hafa milaza fa nanahaka ny fomba fanaon'ny tandrefana ny malagasy, misy koa milaza fa ny fandrosoan'ny faritra renivohitra ary ny elanelan'ny fahafaha-mividy dia nanimba ny fihavanana. Mbola afaka hiteny toy ny razambetsika ve isika hoe "Aleo very tsikalakalam-bola toy izay very tsikalakalam-pihavanana":

"Tsara kokoa ny very tombon-tsoa ara-bola noho ny fihavanana sy ny firaisankina".

Mila ampifanarahana amy fombam-piainana mifanaraka amin'ny vanim-potoana sosialy izay iainantsika ny fihavanana, kanefa dieny izao, isika ve tsy tokony hieritreritra momba ny hitazonana ny fomban-drazana tsara sy ny fiaraha-monina mba hivitrana tsy hofongotana amy fivoarana andalovany?

Mana isan'andro sy baiboly malagasy

It is difficult to have malagasy books so order a bible here and listen to it at the same time  to learn the language and  most of all to know Jesus our Saviour.

Romans 1=15That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. 16I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.17For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”…

Note= There was an ecumenical consensus that says that the name JESOSY should be called JESOA in malagasy, but the written protestant bible still keeps JESOSY and malagasy people keep JESOSY as the right malagasy name for our Lord JESUS. Both names are right, they refer to the Only SOn of GOd who died on the Cross to save us from our sins.

I don't earn anything from this sort of reference, only the everlasting one.
